Dresser

I based the design and construction of this dresser loosely on the Stickley 8-drawer chest. For example, Stickley chests have blind dovetailed cross rails; I used through dovetails. This dresser is built from alder and 1/4" birch plywood in the side panels. The dovetailed drawer boxes are Baltic birch with 1/4" cedar plywood bottoms, which dictates that the drawer boxes remain unfinished. The drawers have full-extension slides:

I used a mix of TransTint Honey Amber and Golden Brown dyes from Homestead Finishing to color the dresser, including a lacquer toning coat of brown. The top coats are satin nitrocellulose lacquer. The drawer pulls are from Restoration Hardware. This dresser was crated and shipped to San Diego.
